Syrian Resettlement Programme

In 2015 the Government announced that the UK would welcome and provide homes for 20,000 refugees camped around the borders of Syria.

Syrian Resettlement Programme at King's Church

As part of the Syrian Resettlement Programme, Hastings Borough Council and Rother District Council have agreed to support and house 140 vulnerable Syrians. They do this with the help of local charities and faith groups, and King’s Church is the lead charity/faith group for Hastings & Rother.

In practical terms, this means that when we are informed that a Syrian family is due to arrive in the UK under the scheme, we turn their house into a home (making beds, putting up curtains, etc) and make a welcome meal for when they arrive. We also provide a ‘welcome box’ full of toiletries, food, clothing, books to help with learning English, and lunch boxes and toys for the children.

If you would like to know how you can get involved in welcoming or befriending some of the Syrian families arriving under the resettlement programme, please contact us.
