Modern Slavery
There are an estimated 35.8 million men, women and children trapped in slavery across the world today.

For several years now a number of King’s Church members have been acting to promote awareness, and praying for God to intervene to enable the authorities to identify and bring freedom to those in our area caught in modern slavery. Sadly, this is an issue known to exist here as well as across the nation and more widely across the globe. Around Hastings and Rother, forced labour is believed to be the more prevalent form of trafficking and exploitation. We believe God’s heart is to release captives, both spiritually and physically.
Hastings Anti-trafficking Hub
We have been able to bring together a number of organisations within the Hastings Anti-Trafficking Hub (HATH) to work together to tackle this issue. This group comprises representatives of Sussex Police, Hastings Borough Council, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Stop the Traffik and King’s Church Hastings. Other organisations that can help to prevent trafficking, exploitation and people being denied their rights and freedoms are welcome to join us.
We also offer support to those brought to Hastings, St Leonards, and Bexhill from other parts of the country after being rescued from trafficking, and maintain contact and support even when they have moved on.
To find out more about human trafficking, visit Stop the Traffik, and the A21 Campaign and Sussex Police. And please contact antitrafficking@kingshastings.org to find out how you can join us in praying and acting to pursue justice and freedom for the oppressed in our area.
